immediately switched to French Horn for concert season never to return to trumpet. I participated in marching band, concert band, chorus and the school musical most years. I am grateful for the opportunities extended to me by Beechwood, however, they were not enough.

In 1986 I decided to audition for the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps in Bloomington, IN. I was considered young for junior corps and struggling with the movement aspect, I was declined a position in the mellophone line in June of 1987. On the day that I was to depart, director, Jim Mason, offered me a position in the corps as a gigantic pink elephant. Ecstatic, I accepted the position and vowed to make the brass line the next year.
