Northern, I continued to pursue skills in piano and also took lessons in classical guitar as a secondary instrument. My goal was to expose myself to every kind of music available to me.

After NKU, I was offered a Foundation Scholarship to be used in the Indiana University Horn Masters program. The level of music I was exposed to at IU was far beyond anything I had ever experienced. During my years at IU, I was also working for Brass Theater, the original concept child for the “Blast!” Project. I played in Brass Theater with the Canadian Brass quintet and was the conductor understudy for Ray Cramer, director of bands at Indiana University. In 2000, I finished my coursework at IU, helped with the initial launch of Blast as a music staff member
